My passion for hiking and open water swimming led me to take on the mounting problem of garbage and plastic pollution, after I kept encountering trash in otherwise beautiful natural areas. Driven by this new mission, I realized a crucial piece was missing from zero waste initiatives: data. Specifically, data on the quantity, quality and types of waste being thrown away.
So I founded Zabble, a SaaS platform utilizing mobile and cloud technology to help institutions, such as hospitals, universities and corporate offices track their zero waste programs and gain real-time insights into their waste stream. I'm also a board member of the Northern California Recycling Association (NCRA) and previously worked for seminal startups developing healthcare innovations and outdoor pollution monitoring.
